Larry Haines Passes Away Friday September 5, 2025
News just reached me that artist and fly fisher Larry Haines has passed away. He is one of those people we appreciated when he was here, and now that he has left us, I wish him, his family, friends and everyone who cared about Larry – peace and fond memories.
It was one fantastic piece of luck that I had a few hours with Larry when I was working on South Padre Island, Texas in 2022-2023. Although the business startup Los Pescadores is now long gone, I was able to get his art on the walls of Los Pescadores – as the FIRST ORDER of business in creating an atmosphere to the vision I had for part of the Los Pescadores community.
Larry went into depth over two long interviews with me about ART and FLY FISHING. He was ahead of his time. And his art is iconic, often copied these days, often imitated, but Larry Haines had the skills. His work was and is the original. That happens when you start painting at three-years-old.
I hardly have anything more to say, except to repeat how lucky I was that our paths crossed in a meaningful way for myself, if only for a moment in time. I don’t have any more information at this time. If you do, please COMMENT, or send it to me ASAP.
THE LARRY HAINES VIDEOS
I know this is all very fresh. At least it is for me. But for readers in the future, here are the videos I made of Larry Haines while down in the Valley.

SENT IN TO ME last night:
