Monday Morning Shortly
Fly fishing in Texas? There’s still no rest for the weary here – in North Texas. The window is tiny this week, and it is NOW if you are within shouting distance of me this Monday Morning, and that window has a day stamp on it that reads NOW!
Lands northwest of DFW took at least one weather hit over the weekend and I have yet to collect the damage reports from friends between here and Bowie, Texas. Reports of “tornado on the ground” came from that area for two days nights over the weekend, and it challenges me to think all my friends there got away unscathed (as we did escape here in Denton once again). My amazement continues as to how Denton, the crown on the DFW triangle, continues to escape the direct ravages of tornados year-after-year. It is either a blessing from above, or the tremendous heat island that now covers us from DFW, and puts one of those “caps” on the City’s atmosphere. Although I do keep saying, “… some day, some day …” we won’t be so lucky. It’s not that I want a Texas house scraper to come through, but I am surprised it hasn’t.
We are on track, or on the track for more storms midweek, so that means get out and go now, as I said earlier. I am hopelessly stuck at home for a few days with the impeller project waiting in the driveway, and full-on sweat labor building a deck with every spare minute – intentionally put in FRONT of doing my 30-hp Mercury-Tohatsu impeller. What can I say? My mechanical confidence is finally returning after YEARS OFF, but it hasn’t fully arrived just yet.
Plucking Highlights
If you missed it, and apparently a lot of everyone is missing it; I have gone from the old Texas Fly Fishing Reports to a new format recently! I use that exclamation point with a hint of humor. Boiling a Texas Fishing Report down to three minutes, the length of a YouTube Short limit, presents a huge challenge and it takes the report generated by Chet GyPT down to very few words. But, click on it and watch as a favor to me – I need to hear some criticism about what this report needs to be more useful/successful. I fed the manuscript of this video back to Chet, and Chet burned me at the steak … said I committed a journalist’s original sin, and “buried the lead,” and was “boring.” Thanks Chet!
Thanks for stopping by this Monday Morning, and have a weather safe and great week! Be sure to check the description of the video above for Chet’s complete written Texas Fly Fishing and Fishing Report – at full LENGTH! It includes days, tides, times and flies that you can go to this week – based on conditions that we will see across the State of Texas … pretty hefty details by any measure.
