Found: LLELA Buffalo on the Roam

Part TWO of the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area epic

Now that Part TWO is finally being published on this esteemed (ha) site, it seems like explaining is due. It was long. It WAS a long watch. The 🔥MMI🔥 Crew made it shorter by breaking it down as close to HALF as we could figure, and still come out smelling like a true fish story. If you missed PART ONE click here – Part One LLELA BUFFALO ON FLY.

What does not show through this video is some spectacular, backing sighted, fighting on my Sawgrass Five Weight! I am not sure anything the MMI Crew shot could have done justice to the breaching buffs, heading for current and skidding across shallows. I saw it, but I don’t see it! I am going to have to put the MMI Crew on notice: DO BETTER, or ELSE! These fish on a five weight is a slugfest. And these buffalo did not disappoint, even if I did!

I foul hooked good number of buffalo, because I was dropping into them that THICK! And remember, your best bet, unless you disorient them, is to straighten your rod toward the fish, and let them pull loose. Try it next time! It works! And it spares you, and the fish.

Finally, this video became “EPIC” for a reason. There was good information, conversation, and knowledge that came through with the massive help of a surprise NEW South American fly fisher who was willing to share, and enjoy our company as much as we enjoyed his … I hope. Talking to other fly fishers, making a connection, all are huge fringe benefits these days, where no one talks to anyone anymore, especially strangers. Watch both videos, and you will get a feel for what I am talking about.
